Suspect in infant’s abduction stabs girl, self to death after chase with officers, Sugar Land police say

ROSENBERG, Texas – A 1-year-old girl at the center of an Amber Alert in the Houston area was found fatally stabbed on Wednesday morning, according to media reports.

Leylani Ordonez was believed to have been stabbed by her father, 24-year-old Alexander Barrios Ordonez, Sugar Land police told KPRC , KSAT’s sister station in Houston.

Ordonez reportedly also stabbed himself to death following a police pursuit.

An Amber Alert for the child was issued on Tuesday evening, after Ordonez allegedly abducted Leylani in Rosenberg.

Officers said they found the suspect vehicle, a green 2004 Ford F-250 with a “Riverside Towing” logo, at 2 a.m. Wednesday along University Boulevard and Highway 6.

Police initiated a traffic stop, but the suspect drove off and led officers on a chase that lasted about an hour.

The chase ended in Rosenberg, police said, and both the child and man were found with stab wounds.

The child was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The man was also pronounced dead.
