Haltom City police responded to a vehicle theft in progress when the suspect attempted to run from police.
HALTOM CITY, Texas — A suspect was injured after police chased them out of a stolen vehicle, Haltom City police said.
Officers responded to vehicle theft in progress at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in the 5900 block of Airport Freeway, Haltom City police said in a press release.
The victim saw a vehicle pull up and drop off a man who entered the victim’s Chevrolet Avalanche. The victim confronted the alleged thief and saw a pistol in the car, the release states. The suspect drove away in the victim’s car, police said.
Haltom City police located the steel vehicle and attempted to pull over the suspect who refused to stop and struck a vehicle near 3100 Yucca Ave in Fort Worth, the release states.
The pursuit continued until the suspect hit a parked car and ran away on foot, police said. The Fort Worth Police Department helped Haltom City police arrest the suspect in the backyard of a residence on Primrose Ave, the release states.
While the suspect was running, he dropped his gun which was later found by Fort Worth police, according to the release.
The suspect is currently in the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the pursuit, police said. The subject’s name and age have not been released.
