The suspect was further charged with harassment after reportedly throwing a bottle of urine at an officer, police say.
PLANO, Texas — A suspect is in custody after reportedly stealing two cars in one night, crashing one in Plano, and then throwing a bottle of urine at an officer after being taken to the hospital, police say.
The suspect, who police aren’t naming until he’s officially charged, reportedly carjacked a victim in Dallas at gunpoint, police say, then drove to Plano, contacted a second victim asking to see his vehicle, then stole that vehicle as well, leaving the initial stolen car behind.
Police say the suspect was seen in the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 75, where a chase began. The suspect reportedly drove behind a Hampton Inn off 190 and Renner Road, where he crashed into a metal fence in a ditch. That vehicle reportedly caught fire but quickly went out.
The suspect was taken into custody and then taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.
Police initially planned to file the suspect’s stolen vehicle charge at large, but say that he then threw a bottle of urine at an officer and tried to run away before being caught.
The suspect will additionally be charged with harassment of a public servant and resisting arrest, police say.
