Teen charged with murder after hitting, killing woman with vehicle while fleeing police, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle being chased by San Antonio police early Tuesday morning, according to an officer at the scene.

Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle they were following, but it took off from them in the 600 block of Pyron Avenue on the South Side. SAPD’s Eagle helicopter was also part of the chase.

The vehicle then traveled toward Pleasanton Road at a high rate of speed before losing control and running over the woman.

A passenger in the car and the driver both then fled on foot. The woman was pinned under the vehicle, according to police.

Officers later detained and arrested the driver, but the passenger’s whereabouts were not immediately known.

The unidentified woman was later pronounced dead by EMS officials.

It is not immediately known why police were following the vehicle, and potential charges against the driver were unclear.

This is a developing story. KSAT has reached out to SAPD and will update this as we get more information.
