Former Nebraska executive associate athletic director for compliance Jamie Vaughn will join Trev Alberts’ staff at Texas A&M as executive associate athletic director for internal operations, according to a release from the athletic department.
He will begin his role in Aggieland at the start of September, replacing Joe Fields who recently left his post to become deputy athletics director at Tulsa.
“Jamie brings a tremendous amount of experience from the highest levels of collegiate athletics and I know first-hand about his attention to detail,” Alberts said in a statement. “He is a forward-thinker, and he will be an asset to our executive staff .”
Vaughn joined Nebraska’s staff in July of 2012 as the associate athletic director for compliance, moving from the same position at Kansas State. He was promoted to executive athletic director for compliance in 2018 and worked under Alberts from 2021 until the athletic director left for A&M in 2024.
Along with oversight over NCAA compliance, Vaughn served as the administrator for track and field, cross country and soccer, as well as support for name, image, and likeness efforts.
“I am very grateful to Trev Alberts for the opportunity to work at such a prestigious university,” added Vaughn in the statement. “Trev’s leadership, discipline, and business acumen position him well to successfully lead Texas A&M into a new and exciting future in collegiate athletics. I look forward to joining him and all of the other talented administrators, coaches, staff and student-athletes in Aggieland.”
The 1997 Wayne State graduate previously worked at Texas Tech, Ohio State, New Mexico State, and his alma mater.
