Texas A&M-Commerce cross country team scheduled to run in five meets in 2024

COMMERCE — Texas A&M University-Commerce has revealed the 2024 cross country schedule.

The Lions are slated to compete in five races this season, which is the third in NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference. A&M-Commerce is coming off a sixth-place finish on the men’s side at the conference championships a year ago and an eighth-place finish on the women’s side.

“With a great foundation of returners, plus a very exciting group of incoming runners, I am just stoked to build towards a great cross country season,” said assistant coach Mark Hamiter. “I can hardly wait to see all our men and women back on campus back together as a unit!”

The season begins on Aug. 31 at the Memphis Twilight, which is hosted by Christian Brothers University, under the lights. The women’s race is slated for 9:20 p.m. and the men’s race begins at 10 p.m.

After a week off, the Lions compete in their only meet in the state of Texas at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 13. A&M-Commerce returns to the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Sept. 28.

The last regular season race prior to the conference championships is on Oct. 18 at the Watson Collegiate Classic, hosted by Mississippi College.

The Southland Conference Championships are hosted by New Orleans on Nov. 1 at Lake Oaks Park.
