Texas A&M football injury report reveals few surprises ahead of Las Vegas Bowl

It’s revealed that Texas A&M football will be more thin than anticipated tonight for the Las Vegas Bowl.

The Aggies have had 20 players enter the transfer portal, including starting wide receiver Cyrus Allen, and quarterback Conner Weigman, who has signed with Houston. One of those thin groups will be at defensive line, with Shemar Stewart, Shemar Turner and Nic Scourton declaring for the NFL Draft.

Here is the latest news according to Billy Liucci.

RB Reuben Owens – Out: Mike Elko gave an injury update in regards to Rueben Owens a day before kickoff. Elko said that Owen’s injury would be a five-month project but we’re only at four months right now. He didn’t give much optimism that he would do much against USC.

OL Ar’maj Reed-Adams – Out: The toughest spot to fill might just be one of their key big guys up front. That would be Ar’Maj Reed-Adams. He is going through an undisclosed injury at this point. He is questionable to play at this point.

RB Amari Daniels – Out: The running back depth will be pretty thin without Moss and Owens as it is. We might see the majority of carries from EJ Smith or Terry Bussey in the backfield. If they go really deep, Elko would have to go with his fifth running back, AJ DiNota, the redshirt sophomore.

LB Scooby Williams – Out: This is huge for stopping the run game. The defensive line depth is already thin as it is. Scooby Williams has been a reliable starter next to Taurean York pretty much all season long. Stopping a man in the open field has been a problem in some games, and it won’t get better with Williams gone.

CB Will Lee III – Out: “The blanket” was seen not dressed for warm-ups. This is a huge loss in the secondary as the Aggies will be without argubly their best corner. He was the only bright spot in the dud against Texas. Luckily, Lee III announced that he will return to the Aggies in 2025.

CB Jayvon Thomas – Out: The cornerback group will be the next position group that will be thin for the Aggies tonight. The sophomore went for 17 total tackles and an interception this season. With Thomas and Lee III out, the Aggies are going to have to dig deep to cover the USC receivers.

Mark Nabou suffered an injury against Notre Dame earlier in the season. He’ll be back next year. Same with Le’Veon Moss, as it was announced last week Moss will return to the Aggies in 2025.

The Aggies and Trojans are set to square off in the 2024 Las Vegas Bowl at 10:30 pm ET in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
