Shaker Heights (Ohio) five-star safety Trey McNutt was initially expected to announce his college decision on July 17. That date got postponed due to altered family travel plans, and his new commitment date is Aug. 3.
With that shakeup, McNutt is now taking this weekend to unofficially visit Texas A&M before heading to the West Coast to see Oregon once again.
McNutt took an official visit to Texas A&M over the weekend of June 14 and returned this Thursday for a two-day stay with the Aggies.
McNutt posted a photo outside of Good Bull Icehouse in College Station, thanking ‘Aggieland’ for the visit.
On3’s Steve Wilftong updated McNutt’s recruitment on Thursday.
“He’s going to see his top two schools one more time before announcing his decision on the On3 Recruits channel on August 3. I still like where Oregon stands going into these final visits, but obviously he wants to give Texas A&M one more look, talks about the elite safety coaching between Mike Elko and Coach (Ishmael Aristide). I still think that Oregon is the program to beat and they’ll get the final say in Trey McNutt’s process,” Wiltfong said on Thursday.
“It’s up to Texas A&M to flip that during his two days on campus, then they have to maintain it through one more Oregon visit and then a week before he announces,” he added.
McNutt is the nation’s No. 20 overall prospect, No. 2 safety and No. 2 recruit from Ohio in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
