Texas A&M, Texas Tech basketball to play game at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, per report

The Aggies and Red Raiders are coming to town.

According to a report by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and CollegeHoopsToday.net, Texas A&M and Texas Tech basketball are finalizing an agreement to play a 2024 non-conference, neutral-site game at Dickies Arena in Forth Worth.

The game would be played Dec. 8. According to the report, an official announcement is expected soon.

The Aggies and Red Raiders were originally scheduled to play a home-and-home series beginning this season in Lubbock, but the start of that series has now been postponed, according to Rothstein.

Both programs are coming off NCAA Tournament appearances in 2023-24, the Aggies going 21-15 under Buzz Williams and the Red Raiders going 23-11 in Grant McCasland’s first year at the helm. Tech was a first-round ouster in March, upset by 11-seed NC State. The Aggies and Williams took down 8-seed Nebraska in the opening round before falling to the top overall seed Houston 100-95.

The two sides haven’t faced off on the court since 2012 in a game the Aggies won 45-38, the final Big 12 matchup between Tech and A&M. In total they’ve played 123 games against each other, splitting them almost dead even at 62-61 in favor of the Raiders.
