The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood warning for parts of Dallas County, Texas, on the evening of Wednesday, January 29, as record-breaking rain moved across the region. Vivian Rhodes captured this video showing high floodwater on Airport Freeway near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on Wednesday. “It caught me by such surprise,” Rhodes said. “I was shocked to have seen this.” According to the NWS, DFW Airport measured 2.8 inches of rain, breaking the old record of 0.93 inches set on the same day in 1999. In the early hours of Thursday morning, the airport had measured 3.91 inches of rain, the weather service reported. The NWS expected heavy rain, thunderstorms, and possible flash flooding to continue on Thursday. Credit: Vivian Rhodes via Storyful
