Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers declares for 2025 NFL Draft

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, forgoing his senior season with the University of Texas.

Ewers spent the past three seasons as the Longhorns’ starter, leading Texas to back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinal appearances during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Texas’ season ended last week in the Cotton Bowl Classic with a 28-14 loss to Ohio State.

Ewers went 27-9 as a starter for Texas, which puts him in elite Longhorns company for wins as a starting quarterback — only Colt McCoy and Vince Young have more wins.

Ewers’ final stat line as a Longhorns quarterback — 9,128 passing yards, 68 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

What’s next for Ewers?

Ewers is betting on himself with the decision to go pro. According to multiple national reports, Ewers received substantial financial offers from other programs to play college football in 2025.

NFL mock drafts are scattered when it comes to Ewers’ pro prospects. He is projected to be selected anywhere from the second round to the sixth round in this April’s draft.

Ewers will continue his training in preparation of the draft and the scouting combine in Indianapolis from Feb. 27 to March 2.

The Southlake Carroll High School product’s departure paves the way for Arch Manning to become Texas’ starting quarterback for the 2025 season. Manning made two starts during the 2024 season and featured in a “Wildcat” package in several other games down the stretch.

Manning started two games this season, wins against Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State, and filled in after Ewers suffered an oblique injury during the UTSA game. This season, Manning threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions, while running for 108 yards and four touchdowns.

Wednesday is the deadline to declare for the NFL Draft. Including Ewers, 14 Longhorns have already declared for the NFL Draft.
