The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said the man was apprehended by K9 Kan. He was treated for the injuries he received and transported to county jail.
HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — A North Texas man was arrested this week and charged with the murder of his sister, according to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
The HCSO said deputies responded Monday to a shooting call in the Bonita Point subdivision just outside of Gun Barrel City. Thirty-year-old Samantha Moore was found shot and transported to the hospital. She did not survive her injuries, according to HCSO.
Deputies who responded to the scene learned Moore’s brother, John Clague, had shot her and fled the residence, HCSO said.
Investigators later learned Clague had been taken to a residence in the Harbor Point subdivision in Gun Barrel City and dropped off. Law enforcement responded to the residence where they believed Clague to be and a woman, Vicki Fletcher, came out and told deputies that Clague was in a travel trailer on the property.
The Henderson County Tactical Team called out to Clague to negotiate with him and he did not respond, according to HCSO.
While searching the property around the travel trailer, Clague tried to run away, HCSO said. Henderson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Kan was released, and Clague was taken into custody. Clague was treated for the injuries he received during his arrest and transported to the Henderson County Jail.
His bond was set at $2 million, according to jail records.
While deputies were speaking with Fletcher at the residence, they observed her walk around a patrol car and toss something in a ditch, officials said. Deputies checked the area where Fletcher had tossed an item and located suspected methamphetamine, HCSO said. The sheriff’s office also arrested Fletcher for possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Fletcher was transported the Henderson County Jail, as well. Her bond was set at $50,000, jail records showed.
