Texas man shot and killed in his sleep, Fort Worth police say

Fort Worth police said a man was shot while sleeping in bed Saturday morning.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was shot and killed in his sleep Saturday morning in Fort Worth, police said.

The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) said officers were dispatched at approximately 9:23 a.m. to the 2800 block of Meadow Ridge Drive for a shooting call. When officers got to the home, they found the man dead in a bedroom.

Officers also located a suspect nearby and arrested them, FWPD said. During their investigation, officers learned that the suspect came into the bedroom as the victim and “a witness,” who resides at the home, were asleep and shot him in the “upper body/head area.”

Police said the witness told officers there had not been any altercation or argument prior to the shooting. The suspect and victim are not related, FWPD said. The victim and the witness, however, were in a dating relationship, according to Fort Worth police.

Fort Worth police did not say if there was any relation between the suspect and the witness.

No further information was immediately available.
