TYLER, Texas (KETK) – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department said day pass reservations to see the April 8 eclipse at Texas State Parks will open at 8 a.m. on March 8.
Reservations for 31 state parks in the totality of the eclipse can be made online or by calling the Texas State Parks Reservations Center at 512-389-8900.
TPWD noted that reservations for Enchanted Rock State Natural Area can only be made over the phone on March 11.
The department thinks they will get a lot of calls on March 8 and 11, so it is asking callers to have patience and to know your credit card number, license plate number, vehicle make, model and how many adults and children younger than 12 will be coming with you.
It is important to keep the following tips from the TPWD in mind when making reservations:
- Make a reservation plan and an account for the website before March 8.
- Choose several options for parks to try while attempting to make online reservations.
- Park admission fees vary but children 12 and under enter free.
- Day pass fees are waived for everyone in your vehicle if you have a Texas State Parks Pass.
- Texas State Parks Passes do not guarantee entry because pass holders will still need to make reservations even though they won’t have to pay to enter.
