AUSTIN (KXAN) — Getting to paradise is about to get a lot easier. Fiji Airways will begin nonstop service between Dallas and the island nation in December.
Flights will begin Dec. 10 and operate three times a week from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
“Introducing a direct service between Fiji and Dallas is a really exciting milestone for Fiji Airways, as we continue to increase Fiji’s connectivity with the United States and beyond offering our guests more travel options,” said Andre Viljoen, CEO and managing director of Fiji Airways.
Viljoen said that the 13-hour flight would transport more than 1,000 passengers a week, helping to bolster Fiji’s tourism industry. The airline will use Airbus A350-900 XWB planes on the route, offering 301 economy class seats and 33 business class seats.
Dallas is the fourth U.S. airport served by the airline. It already operates flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu.
