AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle continues its mission to give back to first responders even after a record breaking year.
“It made for a very interesting year. We are incredibly blessed and thankful that those funds were available, and that we had the honor and privilege to do that,” said Suzanne Talley, executive director of The 100 Club.
After the devastating wildfires, The 100 Club gave over $900,000 to support area fire departments in order to replace or upgrade equipment.
“While we wish the benefits were never needed for our services, they are. In October, we saw six line of duty injuries, and unfortunately one of those resulted in a line of duty death,” said Talley.
According to Talley, they also saw their busiest month in October after giving $50,000 to support families of first responders who were injured or lost in the line of duty.

“But also we’re learning that mental health and wellness is coming to the forefront in the first responder world, and we want to kind of dip our toe into the water on that,” said Talley.
The 100 Club says in the next year they plan on expanding into mental health to provide support for our first responders in group settings.
It also plans to adopt a ‘Heroes’ program to get children engaged with those who serve and protect our communities.
