From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mr. Peppermint, Muffin and the rest of the gang will be serving up a dose of nostalgia for your Christmas morning.
DALLAS — Looking for something new to do this Christmas morning? How about introducing the next generation of North Texans to an old classic?
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Christmas morning, WFAA’s 24-hour streaming service WFAA+ will air a special marathon of “Peppermint Place” – the beloved North Texas children’s show featuring the longtime and iconic WFAA child entertainer Mr. Peppermint.
Locals will no doubt recall “Peppermint Place” as the second run of the “Mr. Peppermint” franchise. It aired on WFAA from 1975 to 1996 as a reboot to the original “Mr. Peppermint” show that aired live on WFAA from 1961 to 1969.
Hosted by Jerry Haynes as the titular Mr. Peppermint, the children’s show included a variety of talking puppets — including Muffin, Mr. Peppermint’s sidekick – as well as the recurring “The Peppermint Report” segment that featured news stories read by kid anchors.
