(NEXSTAR) — Time for a culinary road trip? Yelp’s just released its annual list of the “Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S.”
The rankings — determined by Yelp with input from its community of online reviewers — highlight a diverse selection of U.S. restaurants, with 25% of this year’s list being made up of Asian or Asian-fusion restaurants, according to Yelp.
The number 1-ranked restaurant on Yelp’s list is Tumerico, a Latin American eatery located in Tucson, Arizona.
California maintains its position as the state with the most inclusions, boasting a whopping 18 restaurants on Yelp’s 2024 list, including five in the top 10 alone. Florida, the runner-up, is home to 13 of this year’s honorees, while Texas and Arizona share third place with eight each. Nevada rounds out the top five, with six restaurants on the list.
Texas’ top place to eat, according to Yelp, is:
Gino’s Deli Stop N Buy — Rank: 9. Located in San Antonio, this New York-style deli is known for its Philly cheesesteaks, which Gino’s calls “hands down the best this side of Mississippi!” The restaurant also offers a variety of other sandwiches and burgers, including vegetarian options. Gino’s Deli Stop N Buy currently holds a 4.8 Yelp rating across 2,024 customer reviews.
As noted above, however, Yelp’s 2024 rankings aren’t necessarily a reflection of the best-reviewed restaurants on its entire platform.
In compiling this year’s list, Yelp solicited submissions and suggestions from users, and then compared those suggestions against each business’s Yelp ratings and volume of reviews. Additionally, Yelp’s community managers further curated the rankings based on their “expertise” before the list was finalized.
So while these restaurants may not be the absolute best-reviewed across Yelp’s entire platform, they’re the spots locals are raving about.
Yelp also says the list includes plenty of affordable eateries, with 85% offering dining experiences at under $30 per person.
