Three men linked to Texas A&M’s Chi Alpha ministries arrested for indecency with a child

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Three men named in a lawsuit filed in Harris County involving Chi Alpha Campus Ministries and the Assemblies of God have been arrested by the Brazos County Sheriff’s office for indecency with a child by exposure.

William Johnson, 23; Ryan Hoffart, 25; and Otto Randolph, 30, were in the Brazos County Detention Center facing $25,000 bonds Thursday morning. Online records show the offense they were charged for took place on June 1, 2022, but further details were not immediately available.

In a lawsuit filed in late January, a College Station father alleged the Mountain Valley Fellowship Church in Brazos County and the Texas A&M chapter of Chi Alpha Fraternity, along with other faith-based organizations associated with the Assemblies of God, were negligent by failing to protect a 13-year-old College Station boy from child molestation.

Hoffart, Johnson, Randolph, and a fourth man who has not been charged were listed in the lawsuit as serving as group leaders of Texas A&M’s Chi Alpha chapter. LinkedIn profiles for several of the men also detail their service in the organization.

The lawsuit accuses the group of men of “dry humping” the 13-year-old boy. Chi Alpha members are also said to have “showed… their testicles or anuses” to the boy, “pushed [his] face into [Chi Alpha members’] crotches and made sexual noises and pulled [his] pants down,” and “played a game called ‘Fire Truck’ where [Chi Alpha members] would rub their hands on [the 13-year-old’s] thighs and into his crotch.

KBTX has requested detailed copies of the arrest warrants and probable cause statements for Hoffart, Johnson, and Randolph, but they were not immediately available Thursday morning.

Johnson previously worked as a news reporter and anchor at KAGS-TV in Bryan.
