FORECAST
MORNING HOURS
Good morning! Temperatures have dipped into the mid-20s this morning, while wind chills are hovering in the teens and 20s. For those headed to the MLK March, know that you’ll want to dress warm. With some sun this AM, temperatures will slowly rise into the 30s.
MIDDAY THROUGH AFTERNOON
Clouds will roll into the area by midday. Skies will become overcast, essentially “locking in” the cold. Temperatures will level out in mid to upper-30s. Precipitation is NOT expected during this time and travel will NOT be an issue.
EVENING INTO TONIGHT
Light precipitation is forecast to arrive to the area by dinnertime. Initially, it may not reach the ground, as the lower part of the atmosphere is very dry. After sunset, light sprinkles could transition into light freezing rain or light sleet. Precipitation will peak between midnight and sunrise Tuesday. It’s during this timeframe where light sleet and freezing rain could turn to some light snow.
-
Accumulation of any snow will be less than an inch.
-
Ice accumulations will be less than .10″.
-
Still, even a small amount of ice can make for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses.
TUESDAY MORNING
Light snow or sleet will come to an end by sunrise tomorrow. As we mentioned above, slicks spots may exist on some of the bridges and overpasses and even some less-traveled roads. Will school be cancelled? That’s not up to us, but check here for any updates. Temperatures will bottom out in the upper-20s tomorrow morning.
REST OF TUESDAY
Skies will clear by Tuesday afternoon and with some sunshine, we should rebound above freezing for a good stretch late tomorrow. That’ll be helpful to melt and evaporate any leftover moisture. Expect highs in the upper-30s.
TUESDAY NIGHT/WEDNESDAY MORNING
This will be our coldest stretch throughout the entire forecast. Temperatures will plummet under clear skies. Low-20s and even teens (outside of the city center) will be possible. You’ll want to make sure any exposed pipes are taken care of, as we’ll see a significant stretch of below-freezing temps. We’ll rise back above freezing by mid-morning on Wednesday.
