AUSTIN (KXAN) — As April begins to wind down, a new weather pattern is emerging across the country. Temperatures are beginning to warm up, with rounds of showers and thunderstorms on the way.
This forecast covers the period from April 20 to April 27.
On Sunday, April 20th, severe weather continues to strike the Central Great Plains. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 3/5 risk for portions of Arkansas and Missouri.

A compact upper-level low-pressure system will continue to move northeast, with limited severe weather expected on Monday and Tuesday. This same storm system delivered severe weather in Texas and Oklahoma Saturday night. There were multiple reports of tornadoes, large hail, flooding, and wind damage.

A few emerging low-pressure systems will deliver multiple rounds of rain through the next several days, which will help combat widespread drought conditions. States such as Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona are currently in a severe drought.

The Climate Prediction Center forecasts ‘wetter than normal’ conditions across a huge portion of CONUS, accompanied by ‘warmer than normal’ temperatures to close out the month of April. May is one of the most active weather months, so make sure you have a way to receive severe weather alerts.
