Trump Names One-Time Liberal Activist Turned MAGA Supporter As State Dept. Spokesperson

Tammy Bruce was a liberal activist in the 1990s—until she saw the light and became a powerful (self-described) Independent Conservative voice on Fox News, talk radio, books, and as a columnist at The Washington Times.

On Friday night, President-elect Donald Trump named her as spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State in his upcoming administration.

The Trump-Vance Transition Team released a statement:

It is my great honor to announce that Tammy Bruce will be joining our incredible Nominee for United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, as Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State.

Tammy is a highly respected political analyst who understood the power and importance of “MAGA” early on. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Southern California and, after being a liberal activist in the 1990s, saw the lies and fraud of the Radical Left, and quickly became one of the strongest Conservative voices on Radio and Television.

As one of the longest serving News Contributors, Tammy has brought TRUTH to the American People for over two decades. I know she will bring that same strength of conviction and fearless spirit to her new position as State Department Spokesperson.

 Congratulations Tammy!

Bruce was formerly director of the Los Angeles chapter of NOW and worked on several liberal campaigns, including the 1990s Barbara Boxer (CA) and Dianne Feinstein (CA) senate races and the Clinton for president campaign. Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky was one of the “many tipping points in Ms. Bruce’s embracing of libertarian and conservative ideals,” however.

As she says in her long resume, she saw the light:

Until she saw the conservative light, she also served on their national board of directors. A native of Los Angeles, Ms. Bruce holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California, from which she graduated cum laude. Currently she is a PhD candidate at Claremont Graduate University. Ms. Bruce notes her interest in politics and individual liberty was sparked during her childhood in part because of the work of authors Ray Bradbury and George Orwell, both of whom remain her favorite writers. A native Los Angeleno, Ms. Bruce splits her time between New York and Los Angeles.
