Two dead, one seriously injured following two-car crash in North Texas

A young couple was involved in a car crash with a 63-year-old woman, who police say veered into their lane.

ERATH COUNTY, Texas — A deadly crash took the lives of two people in Erath County, and left another woman severely injured, police said.

A young couple was driving south on U.S. 281 in a Cadillac CT5, and a 63-year-old woman was heading north along the same road in a Hyundai Santa Fe on Jan. 17 around 3 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. DPS said early findings indicate the 63-year-old woman veered into the young couple’s lane and crashed into them just north of County Road 719.

The 63-year-old woman, identified as Karen Huey of Lipan, and the young man, Jaelen Green, 21, of Watauga, were pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. 22-year-old Nicole Doggett of Georgetown was severely injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital, DPS confirmed.

Green and Doggett were a couple, according to two verified GoFundMe campaigns. One of the campaigns was established to help cover funeral costs for the Green family. You can click here to donate.

Another GoFundMe campaign was organized to help fund Doggett’s hospital bills as she recovers from her injuries. You can click here to donate to that campaign.
