The shooting left two people dead and a third injured, police say.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Two women were arrested and charged with capital murder this week after a shootout in Fort Worth on Thanksgiving that left two dead and one injured, police say.

Tai Sanders, 17, and Paige Wheaton, 20, were booked into the Tarrant County Jail this week on charges of capital murder, jail records show, in connection with the shooting in the 2800 block of Broadmoor Drive in Fort Worth Nov. 28.

Police responded to the shooting call in the 2800 block of Broadmoor Drive in Fort Worth shortly before 10 p.m. Nov. 28 and found J’Tavian Howard, 23, was shot to death, according to a press release. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the second person killed as Javon Gayton, 18.

Police say Sanders and Wheaton had planned to rob Howard at gunpoint before the shooting.

“Detectives confirmed that a group text involving Sanders and Wheaton along with two other males showed that they all planned to rob Howard at gunpoint,” a press release from police read. “During the planned robbery, the two males along with Howard exchanged gunfire and were all shot. It was also determined that Wheaton was waiting to pick everyone up after the planned robbery. “

Howard was taken to a local hospital after the shooting, where he died from his injuries, Gayton was pronounced dead at the scene and a third person was listed in critical condition, according to FWPD.
