Two men injured in shooting in North Texas, police say

   

The Mesquite Police Department responded to the 200 block of Parkview Street just before 2 p.m. Friday.

MESQUITE, Texas — Two people were injured in a shooting Friday afternoon prompting three nearby schools to place the campuses on a secure status, authorities said.

Just before 2 p.m., the Mesquite Police Department responded to the 200 block of Parkview Street to reports of a shooting. The fire department also responded to the scene.

Mesquite High School is about half a mile away from the scene. Mesquite ISD confirmed that the high school campus, Florence Black Elementary and Agnew Middle School were also placed on secure status

“All three campuses had or will have a normal dismissal. During a SECURE, all exterior doors remain locked, and no one is allowed to enter or leave the building,” the district said in a statement.

When officers arrived they found two men with gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to the hospital and their condition is unknown at this time. 

Their identities were not immediately released.

The investigation is ongoing.
