DESOTO, Texas — Police arrested two men who posed as delivery drivers and attempted to break into a home early Tuesday morning, police said.

According to the DeSoto Police Department, surveillance footage showed the two men, 23-year-olds Pedro Granados and Joseph Pumpelly, walking up to the home in the 600 block of Shasta Street, pretending to be a food delivery service.

The department said the men, who are both from Mesquite, then went around to the backyard of the home and tried to enter the home but ran off after opening the back door.

DPD said they were able to locate the two men in their car, a red Toyota Corolla, as they were trying to leave the neighborhood around 3 a.m. According to DPD, both men revealed their intent to steal money from the home and believed the homeowner was out of town.

DPD said that during their search of the car, officers found a gun, cocaine, masks and gloves.

Both men were charged with burglary of habitation, and Pumpelly faces additional charges of possession of cocaine and unlawful carrying of a firearm, the department announced.
