Two people arrested in Northeast Side motel standoff, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested two people in connection with an active standoff at a far Northeast Side motel, a department spokesperson said in a press conference.

The incident began around 4 a.m. Thursday at a motel in the 5500 block of Goldfield Drive after a person was robbed and beaten by a group of people, according to police.

The victim flagged down an on-duty SAPD officer nearby, but the group ran off. Police later determined the individuals were in several rooms inside the motel.

SWAT officers and additional officers were called in, and they began working to get the individuals out of the room, police said.

Two rooms were cleared, and police took several people into custody; however, they did not disclose how many people were taken or if any were suspects in the alleged robbery.

Police said, around 10:15 a.m., that they were still trying to secure additional rooms.
