Officials say two suspects are in custody.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Police are investigating outside a Kaufman County middle school after two people were shot, officials say.
According to police, two people were shot. The victims were taken by helicopters to local hospitals. Their current conditions are unknown.
Two people are in custody, police said.
It’s not known at this time whether any students were involved. Forney ISD said the shooting did not take place inside their campuses, and police say it didn’t occur on Forney ISD school property.
“North Forney, Brown Middle School, Smith Intermediate, Dewberry Elementary, Blackburn Elementary and Forney Learning Academy are in a “secure” at this time.,” the district said in a statement.
Once the “secure” is lifted families will be notified and students and staff will be released, Forney ISD said. School is scheduled to be released at 4 p.m.
