SAN ANTONIO – Students in San Antonio-area school districts will wear maroon on Tuesday to show their support for the Uvalde community at the start of their school year.
Uvalde CISD students are set to return to the classroom on Sept. 6, just over three months since the Robb Elementary School tragedy that claimed 21 lives.
Though the Uvalde community is still healing and fear and grief surround the start of the new school year, San Antonio schools are looking to provide morale support.
“Let’s all wear maroon to show that our hearts are with the Uvalde community,” Medina Valley ISD said.
These are the San Antonio-area school districts participating so far. More districts may be added to this list later on:
On Friday, Sept. 2, Uvalde High School football has its first home game against Winn of Eagle Pass.
It’s a game that holds powerful meaning for the Uvalde community and to the entire nation who witnessed the horrible events in May.
The match will be held at 7 p.m. at Honey Bowl Stadium. You can watch it live here.
