UT, Texas A&M raising funds for students ahead of rivalry football game

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two of Texas’ largest rival universities are not only facing off on the football field on Nov. 30, but they are also competing for bragging rights.

Fans of The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University are encouraged to help support their school in a competition to raise money for students.

UT and Texas A&M are hosting a friendly giving challenge leading up to the historic football game between the two schools.

People are invited to donate from Nov. 21-29 on the Longhorn side or the Aggie side.

The Rivalry Challenge ends Nov. 29 at 11:59 p.m. CST, and the winner will be announced before the game.

As of 11 a.m. Friday, Texas A&M was ahead by more than 470 gift donations.

“Donations made to UT during this challenge will support scholarships and the Longhorn student experience, while donations made to Texas A&M University will support scholarships, traditions and programs for current and former students through the Annual Fund of The Association of Former Students,” organizers said.
