AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on North Lamar Boulevard just north of U.S. Highway 183 overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning.
According to the Austin Police Department, officers responded to a possible crash around 1:20 a.m. at the Palms on Lamar Apartments, which is in the 8600 block of North Lamar, between Thurmond Street and Fairfield Drive. It was first reported as a possible shooting.
APD said when officers and first responders arrived, they discovered the driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Fritzgerald Bissereth, had been shot and was unresponsive.
Detectives said they believed Bissereth was shot by an unknown suspect who left the area immediately after.
