WATCH: BCSO investigates shooting, deadly crash in southeast Bexar County

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 36-year-old man died after chasing a person for dumping trash in a car lot in Southeast Bexar County, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call around 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the 12700 block of U.S. Highway 181 at a car lot for a person dumping trash on the property.

BCSO later responded to a crash on the northbound lanes of Highway 181 just before Loop 1604 near Elmendorf.

Two employees of the car lot, which included the 36-year-old man who died, chased the driver of a Dodge truck in separate vehicles.

Sheriff Javier Salazar said the driver in the Dodge truck pulled out a gun, but that did not stop the employees from following him.

BCSO believes that a shooting then happened between the 36-year-old man and the driver of the truck.

The 36-year-old man lost control of a vehicle while driving at high speeds and spun off the road into a ditch and the woods, Salazar said.

“There is a firearm in his car, and there is evidence that he might have been shooting out from inside his car,” Salazar said.

Salazar believes the Dodge truck has bullet holes. The sheriff’s office is currently searching for that truck.

It’s unknown if the 36-year-old man died from his crash injuries or if there are any gunshot wounds, Salazar said.
