JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — Video released by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office shows the moment a missing teenager from Texas was found after a car chase.
Last Saturday, deputies spotted a car associated with the missing girl in Durbin Pavilion shopping center in St. Johns, Florida, a suburb of Jacksonville.
The vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Jesus Esteban Arellano, sped away as deputies approached, prompting the chase.
The deputies in pursuit quickly utilized a precision immobilization technique, often referred to as a PIT maneuver, which forced the car to spin and then stop.
The sheriff’s office said Arellano was arrested on Texas warrants for five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
In addition to the Texas warrants, Arellano was charged with fleeing law enforcement, giving a false name and driving without a license.
The missing 16-year-old girl, who was not named, was safely recovered, officials said. She was identified as a “runaway.”
An officer in the video can be heard telling the girl, “You’re listed as a missing person like I told you before, for running away and stuff like that.”
No further information was immediately available.
