DALLAS — The cuteness factor is off the charts for this week’s Wednesday’s Child. Amil turns 3 years old on Christmas day and would truly be a gift for any family.
With a spring in his step and a radiant smile, 2-year-old Amil steals the show and your heart. We spent the day with him at Scottish Rite for Children in Dallas, where Amil showed off his tenacity. His foster mother, Karen Morris, says he is a go-getter in every way.
“He is precious. He just can’t get enough. Came into our home with just eyes wide and absorbing everything,” she said.
Amil’s been in foster care nearly all his life and has brought his foster parents tremendous joy.
“I love his tenacity. To watch how hard he works for everything, it just inspires me. And I love his smile and just his joy,” said Morris.
Whether it’s learning to use a walker or learning sign language, Amil is a thriver.
“When we first got him, he wasn’t able to sit up or to roll over. Not only could he not handle the equilibrium part of it because he had never been off of his back but he also just didn’t have any strength,” explained Morris about how far he has come over the last 20 months.
When you see Amil, you see his fighting spirit and great attitude.
“We’ll go to the playing zoo, he’s all in. We’ll go swimming, he’s all in. He’s just all about it. Whatever we’re doing,” said Morris about his easy-going nature.
Born with a long list of medical needs, Amil doesn’t let anything stop him from living boldly. He is non-verbal and will need lifelong care from a family who is just as special as he is.
“He needs a family that will fight hard for him. That will fight for his therapy. That will fight for his meds. That will learn sign language and communicate with him. He needs a fun family,” said Morris.
Amil turns three years old on Christmas Day. He’s not only unique, he also fills his foster mother with hope that a special Forever Family will adopt this little angel.
“Our prayer for him is that a family will step forward and say they want to adopt him and that they will fight for him so that he becomes all that he’s able to be.”
