Weekend road closures are slowing things down in Dallas, Duncanville, and Tarrant County

Motorists in North Texas should prepare for significant traffic delays this weekend as road work continues

DALLAS — Motorists in North Texas should prepare for significant traffic delays this weekend as multiple major road closures and lane reductions are scheduled for ongoing improvement projects.

IH-45 lane reduction in Dallas

Southbound Interstate 45 (I-45) in Dallas will experience a lane reduction to one lane between I-30 and Logan Street from 8 p.m. on Friday, March 14, until 5 a.m. on Monday, March 17. This is part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) ongoing bridge maintenance project.

While the left lane of southbound I-45 will remain open, drivers should prepare for heavy delays and consider alternative routes. This maintenance work is part of a larger initiative aimed at enhancing the safety and durability of our infrastructure, with the overall project expected to be completed by summer 2025, weather permitting.

IH-20 full closure in Duncanville

In Duncanville, all lanes of eastbound I-20 will be completely closed between the Duncanville Road/North Main Street exit (MM 462) and Cockrell Hill Road from 10 p.m. on Friday, March 14, to 5 a.m. on Saturday, March 15. Traffic will be redirected to the frontage roads during this time.

This closure is part of an ongoing corridor improvement project, which is anticipated to be completed by early 2025, weather permitting. Drivers should expect congestion and remain vigilant for slowed traffic in the vicinity.

FM-156 closure in Tarrant County

In Tarrant County, both northbound and southbound FM 156 will be fully closed between Avondale Haslet Road and Main Street/Westport Parkway in Saginaw from 10 p.m. on Friday, February 28, through 5 a.m. on Monday, March 3, for bridge maintenance work. Motorists will be detoured via a signed route, and alternate routes are highly recommended.

Plan for traffic delays

Please note that all scheduled road work is subject to weather conditions. We encourage motorists to plan for additional travel time or to seek alternate routes whenever possible.
