MAP: County results for governor’s race

In Bexar County, O’Rourke won with 57% to Abbott’s 41%.

O’Rourke also won other major cities throughout the state — Dallas, Austin, Houston, El Paso — as well as growing suburbs of Hays and Fort Bend counties. Williamson County is too close to call as of midnight Wednesday.

But Abbott dominated in the vast swaths of rural Texas, and performed well enough in Harris County to hold a wide lead over O’Rourke all night. The race was over before the 10 p.m. news started.

In the Rio Grande Valley, O’Rourke appeared to win nearly all counties as of this writing.
