When will Anthony Davis make his Mavs debut?

Davis joined the Mavericks in Philadelphia, but was out as he heals from an abdominal strain.

DALLAS — Newly-acquired Mavs big man Anthony Davis is expected to make his debut when the team returns to the American Airlines Center on Saturday against the Houston Rockets, according to NBA insider Marc Stein

“The expectation, I’m told, is that newly acquired Anthony Davis will make his Mavericks debut Saturday at home against Houston rather than tonight in Boston,” Stein reported on X, formerly known as Twitter .

Ironically enough, Luka Doncic is also expected to debut for the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, too. ESPN has flexed the Lakers-Pacers game to ESPN in anticipation for Doncic’s first game donning purple and gold.

Davis joined the Mavericks in Philadelphia alongside Max Christie, but did not play as he recovers from an abdominal strain. Christie made his Mavericks debut against the Sixers, playing 32 minutes and logging 15 points and nine rebounds.

The Mavericks have gone 0-2 since the Luka-AD trade, and take on the Boston Celtics Thursday night.

Davis joins the Mavs after averaging 25.7 points per game and 11.9 rebounds per game. The last time Davis suited up for a full game in a Lakers uniform (Jan. 27), he dropped 42 points and 23 rebounds on the Charlotte Hornets.
