Concerns over LGBTQ issues ha increased in recent years in Texas in the wake of several perceived anti-LGBTQ bills proposed and passed in the Texas Legislature.
Texas has the second-highest population of LGBTQ people in the country, with 1.1 million of its residents identifying at LGBTQ. According to VisitDallas.com, the Dallas metro area has the largest number of LGBTQ people in Texas, with just over 200,000 people.
Here are some resources and organizations focused on the LGBTQ community in Dallas.
Resource Center
According to its website, the Resource Center has served the LGBTQ community and AIDS/HIV patients in the Dallas area for four decades. The Resource Center provides information for those seeking LGBTQ-friendly health services, such as HIV and STI testing, gender-affirming care and both primary care and mental health care.
The Resource Center also operates a community center, a dental health clinic for eligible patients, an LGBTQ health clinic and a sexual health clinic.
The organization’s website also includes lists of LGBTQ social and support groups geared toward many different areas of the LGBTQ community.
Dallas Pride
Dallas Pride is a long-running LGBTQ nonprofit organization, dedicated to putting on events that “promote a diverse, inclusive and positive image of the LGBTQ community.” The organization hosts the Dallas Pride Parade and Music Festival. The festival is scheduled for June 14 and 15, 2025 at Fair Park, with the parade scheduled for June 15.
The organization’s website includes a calendar of events, which don’t only include events geared toward the LGBTQ community.

Pride214.com is a website full of information on LGBTQ resources, organizations and events, and bills itself as the “Dallas Pride Connection,” LGBTQ individuals across North Texas.
The site list Pride parades and promotional Pride nights for local professional sports teams, medical resources, information on local addiction and psychological counseling, a list of local LGBTQ-friendly churches.
The site also has information on how to change one’s name and gender marker in Texas,local support groupssheltersLGBTQ-friendly social clubs, gay sports leagues.
Dallas Rainbow Counseling
Dallas Rainbow Counseling offers mental health counseling geared towards the LGBTQ communityinclud individual therapy, couples therapy and transgender counseling.
According to its website, Rainbow Counseling offers a safe, LGBTQfriendly therapy experience in a judgment-free space.
Dallas Hope Charities
Dallas Hope Charities operates the Dallas Hope Center, an LGBTQ homeless shelter geared towards youth . According to the Trevor Project, as much as 28% of LGBTQ youth can experience homelessness.
The Hope Center also offers counseling and coaches those who come to the shelter on life skills, teaching them to become self-sufficient.
