The White House is the latest to denounce Los Angles City Council member Nury Martinez for her racist language revealed in leaked audio, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre calling Martinez’s comments “appalling” and “unacceptable.” Martinez was recorded in a 2021 redistricting meeting with Councilmembers Kevin de Le?n and Gil Cedillo, and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor President Ron Herrera. Martinez has resigned from her post as the president of the council, but not from the council itself, while Herrera resigned Tuesday from the labor federation.
Jean-Pierre said Tuesday:
The President is glad to see that one of the participants in that conversation has resigned, but they all should.
The meeting was peppered with coarse language, insults, and racist tropes, as Martinez called City Council member Mike Bonin (a gay man) a “little bitch,” and described his adopted son, who is black, as a “little monkey.” There’s much more offensive material; you can listen to it all here. As Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reports, Bonin gave an emotional speech at the council Tuesday morning describing the pain the words had caused.
Although every person involved in this sordid tale is a Democrat, that didn’t stop Jean-Pierre from inexplicably finding a way to trash Republicans:
She then bought up what she felt were controversial comments by Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville and o thers. Even if she’s right–and I’m not saying she is–what the heck does that have to do with this all-Democrat misconduct? Since she wants to discuss recent racist remarks, she should have a chat with Nancy Pelosi, whose drunken rant Bonchie wrote about in September.
KJP said:
When a MAGA Republican says something racist and/or antisemitic, they are embraced by cheering crowds and become celebrated and sought after endorsements.
I know of no Republican crowds who have ever cheered on politicians who compare a black child to an accessory or a Louis Vuitton bag, or say that the kid needs a “beatdown.” All these things and (much) more were said during the infamous meeting, and yet there were no conservatives in the room applauding, nor have any stepped up to clap for the backroom rantings.
She quoted Joe Biden as saying, “Hate never goes away. It only hides.” Which is a fascinating thing to say for a guy who’s made a lifetime of racist remarks over the years. Here’s just one compilation, from Townhall:
If you need more, here’s a 7-minute video of Joe Biden not hiding racism at all. We could also tell the tales of famous Democrats who used blackface or even were once Grand Cyclops of the KKK while being high-ranking members of the Democrat Party. Tell us again, Karine, about how Democrats police racism in their ranks.
It’s repulsive for her to use this situation, where Los Angeles residents are actually suffering–to hammer home a divisive, partisan message. However, that’s what we’ve come to expect out of the Biden White House. After Bonin’s speech, the council meeting continued and residents got a chance to speak their minds. Many were distraught, hurt, and upset by the vile language used by their Democrat-elected leaders.
Not a single one of them that I’m aware of thought to bring “MAGA” into the conversation because it simply has nothing to do with it. As RedState‘s Jennifer Van Laar and Jennifer Oliver O’Connell point out on Twitter and in articles, this is pure Left-on-Left crime.
Biden has seemed to be on a one-man quest to divide America since his angry, dystopian September 2022 speech. This latest attempt to deflect Democrat malfeasance onto Republicans proves once again that we have one of the most divisive administrations in memory, and that in their desperation to save the midterms, they will do and say anything for one more vote.
