LOS ANGELES — Actor Sebastian Stan, known for his roles playing The Winter Solider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tommy Lee in “Pam & Tommy,” and most recently Donald Trump in “The Apprentice,” is bringing one of his biggest fansto the Oscars with him.
The now Golden Globe winner and Romanian-American actor told the Associated Press he’d be taking his mother Georgeta Orlovschi to the award show Sunday.
“I have to. Because… one of the first visits before we moved to America, we actually took this tour bus in Los Angeles, and we went by the Dolby Theater. I must have been like, I think 10 or something like that,” he said. “I want to share that moment with her. I owe her everything. And it’ll be memorable forever.”
The actor is one of the many faces highlighted this award season, nominated and winning for his two most recent projects “The Apprentice” and “A Different Man.” It’s the first time Stan is being recognized at the Academy Awards, and he’s up against Adrien Brody, Colman Domingo, Ralph Fiennes and Timothée Chalamet for Best Actor.
When winning his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for the role of Edward in “A Different Man,” the actor thanked his parents in his speech.
“This is for my mom who left Romania in search of a better life, gave me everything, and for my stepfather, Tony, who took on a single mom and a grown up kid, thank you for being a real man,” said Stan during his acceptance speech.
He’s mentioned his mother in many previous interviews, often talking about how she supports his movies by seeing them in theaters. During an A24 podcast alongside Colman Domingo, Stan mentioned how his mother says he needs to “be less intense” when expressing since she “can see some lines” in his face.
