Why are candy hearts popping up all over downtown Denton?

The city of Denton said in a release it had decorated its downtown area with vibrant hearts to encourage people to explore the local businesses.

DENTON, Texas — The city of Denton has decorated its downtown this February with heart candy displays to add some seasonal charm to the area and encourage folks to explore businesses, dine downtown and attend special events throughout the month.

The courthouse, shops and other businesses spread the love with their life-sized Valentine’s Day message heart candies.

Sunnye Knight, Director of the Discover Denton store, said this is a great opportunity for people to “discover Denton.”

“There are 16 different businesses downtown that are participating in the Candy Heart locations,” Knight said. “So, you can get out, walk around, take some photos, see people and go into some local businesses.”

Those who come out to downtown will get a list of participating businesses and a complimentary city of Denton Valentine’s sticker, Knight said.

Some of the community events in Denton this month include:  My Little Valentine Family Dance, Active Adult Dinner and Dance, or Adaptive Rec Sweetheart Ball.
