A woman was arrested Saturday after a neighbor caught her on video allegedly hitting her puppy multiple times, according to the City of San Antonio’s Animal Care Services.
San Antonio police arrested Havanna Miller, 23, and charged her with at least one count of animal cruelty, ACS said in a press release.
The alleged incident happened Friday morning at an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Culebra Road.
A woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, shared video of the incident with KSAT.
According to the video, a woman, who ACS said is Miller, is on her apartment balcony repeatedly hitting a 3-month-old poodle with an unidentified object.
ACS said the poodle was taken into its care on Friday evening.
Miller bonded out of the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Sunday afternoon, according to court records. She’s scheduled for a pre-indictment hearing on March 25.
The animal cruelty charge is considered a third-degree felony. If convicted, Miller could face between two and 10 years in prison, according to ACS.
This is a developing story. KSAT will update this story as more information becomes available.
