Woman arrested for endangering children while using meth, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A woman has been arrested for allegedly endangering her children while using methamphetamine, according to San Antonio police.

On Friday, staff at a motel in the 6900 block of N Interstate 35 called police to report a woman, later identified as Katrices Bates, was abusing her children.

Staff told police they had taken custody of Bates’ 3-year-old and 2-year-old girls.

When officers arrived, they found Bates, 26, inside a room along with drug paraphernalia.

Bates told officers she had “ingested meth” and was taken to a hospital, according to police. She was later released and booked on two counts of child endangerment.

The children were placed in CPS custody. The investigation is ongoing.

Previous case dismissed

In 2019, Bates was accused of forcing minors into prostitution and selling them for sex through online escort service ads, according to an arrest affidavit.

Bates, along with Keary Douglas Adams, faced a felony charge of trafficking of persons after three victims came forward to police.

The case was dismissed in 2019, records show.
