Woman pulled from Trinity River after car goes into water, Fort Worth police say

According to police, the woman was taken to a nearby hospital.

FORT WORTH, Texas — The Fort Worth Fire Department dive team assisted in a search near the Trinity River bridge after a car went into the water Saturday evening, police said.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers responded to the area of Beach and East Freeway around 5:47 p.m. to the report of a car that had gone into the river.

Upon arrival, police said officers found the car in the water and jumped in. An adult woman was pulled from the water and officers performed live-saving measures on her — later sending her to the nearest hospital, police said. The woman’s condition was not immediately clear.

According to Fort Worth PD, the call that dispatch received said that there was also an infant in the car, however, no other victims have been found.

Fort Worth PD said the fire department’s dive team and other resources are helping with the search and the Traffic Investigations Unit was on the scene as well.

In an update, Fort Worth PD said it was postponing the search until Sunday morning.

This is a developing story. WFAA will update this article with the latest information.
