AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas DPS Violent Offender Database, which launched in December 2023 ahead of its Jan. 1 deadline, is now available the agency said in a news release Thursday.
House Bill 5202 created the database during the regular session of the 88th Texas Legislature, according to DPS. The bill required the agency to create, as well as “maintain a public centralized database of offenders who have committed certain violent offenses, including those involving family violence. DPS provides access to the website free of charge.”
Furthermore, the database has information on offenders who have been convicted of assault, sexual assault, aggravated assault or aggravated sexual assault involving family violence on two or more occasions, according to DPS. Additionally, the database includes offenders who were convicted of “continuous violence against the family, stalking or any combination of such offenses.”
The database includes offender’s full name, date of birth, recent photograph and more, the release said.
