AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department says one person is dead and one person is in the hospital after a hostage incident in a home early Wednesday morning. Police say the two adults knew each other.
According to APD, SWAT officers found a body inside the home on Sweet Melissa Drive after 1 a.m. That is just northeast of Wells Branch Parkway and northwest of South Heatherwilde Boulevard.
APD says Austin Travis County-EMS paramedics took a second person to the hospital. Police say that person is in stable condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the two people were only two involved in the incident. APD said the weapon used in the incident is not known. Also police did not have information about how the two people involved were injured.
Police were called to the scene around 7:55 p.m. SWAT was notified an hour later.
APD says residents on either side of the home were evacuated but were later allowed to return.
