Arlington police investigating fatal hit-and-run incident

 

The victim was killed early Sunday morning after being hit at the intersection of West Pioneer Parkway and Center Street.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that took place early Sunday morning.

Police were called at about 2:01 a.m. to the intersection of West Pioneer Parkway and Center Street after reports of the hit-and-run. They found the victim, a 30-year-old man lying in the roadway, where he was pronounced dead, police said. 

Witnesses told police the victim was using the crosswalk trying to cross Pioneer Parkway when a black Honda Civic traveling eastbound along the road collided into him, police said. The driver reportedly didn’t stop and continued driving away. 

The Civic was found in the 500 block of East Pioneer Parkway with damage consistent with the collision, and multiple bottles of alcohol inside, police said. Witnesses told officers the driver had left the vehicle and ran toward an apartment complex nearby.

Police are working to identify the driver, officials said. No arrests have been made as of Sunday evening.

The name of the victim will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
