Denton County man sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing children

 

Kennedy’s sentence includes a conviction for aggravated sexual exploitation of a child in Denton, and lewd or indecent acts to a child in Marietta, Oklahoma.

DENTON COUNTY, Texas — An Aubrey, Texas man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for sexually abusing children and possessing child sexual abuse material.

According to prosecutors, 42-year-old William Carl Kennedy, a registered sex offender, pleaded guilty in November 2023 to producing child pornography and penalties related to his status as a sex offender.

On April 25, Kennedy was sentenced to life in federal prison for the sexual exploitation of a child, to be followed by an additional 10 years for penalties for registered sex offenders.

Kennedy’s sentence includes a conviction for aggravated sexual exploitation of a child in Denton, and lewd or indecent acts to a child in Marietta, Oklahoma. Court documents also said Kennedy failed to register as a sex offender in Texas.

In 2023, a child under the age of 12 reported that Kennedy had sexually abused them. Investigators obtained evidence of Kennedy filming himself sexually abusing the child at a residence in Denton County, according to court documents. Authorities also said Kennedy sent at least one recording of the child to another person.
