A sheriff’s deputy in North Texas was fatally shot while responding to a domestic disturbance and an arrest has been made in the case, according to multiple reports.
Eastland County Deputy David Bosecker was called to a domestic dispute around 9 p.m. Friday at a home off of Highway 183, according to a report from the Star-Telegram. Eastland County is just over four hours away from Bexar County and is west of Fort Worth.
Bosecker was first to arrive at the scene and was immediately shot by the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Cody Douglas Pritchard, Eastland County Today reports.
Other deputies were able to take Pritchard into custody and no other injuries were reported.
According to the Star-Telegram, Pritchard is being held in the Stephens County Jail on a charge of capital murder of a peace officer.
Bosecker has served in law enforcement for over 21 years and previously worked as a game warden for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Star-Telegram reports. He also worked as an officer for the Comanche Police Department.
Several law enforcement agencies have posted about Bosecker on social media and are sending thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.
