Ex-boyfriend shot new boyfriend and his uncle over attempted strangling in Dallas, police say

DALLAS — Two men were shot during an argument that started with a domestic assault at a home in Dallas late Wednesday night, the Dallas Police Department said.

Police responded around 10 p.m. to the 3800 block of Bonnie View Road, where two men were shot, according to a police news release. Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions were not yet known later Thursday morning.

Police officials at the scene told WFAA that the incident started when a man was reportedly trying to strangle his girlfriend. The woman texted her ex-boyfriend for help, and he responded to the home.

At some point during the incident, the ex-boyfriend shot the boyfriend who was accused of trying to strangle the woman. He also shot the boyfriend’s uncle, who was also at the home during the incident.

The boyfriend was accused of trying to strangle the woman then ran to a fire station for help and was treated for a gunshot wound to his ankle. The man’s uncle, who was also shot, was taken to a hospital and was in surgery.

The ex-boyfriend accused in the shooting has not been arrested, police said.
